Travel for Life Workshops for Senior Road Users in Lancashire
Lancashire County Council Safe & Healthy Travel Team and Lancashire Road Safety Partnership hosted the sixth workshop for senior road users this year in Preston yesterday 4th December 2018, to help reduce the number and severity of road casualties in this age group, age 50 – 90+ and to increase physical activity levels to help maintain lifelong safe & independent mobility. 55 people attended the workshop.
The Travel for Life workshops hosted speakers including Lancashire Constabulary, Lancashire Fire & Rescue, North West Ambulance Service, Highways England and road safety professionals. Topics covered protecting yourself as a driver, passenger and pedestrian; fitness to drive, advice on prescribed medication and driving, the Drive Safely for Longer training course and information on alternatives to driving in Lancashire.
We’ve received some great feedback and will look to host more sessions across th county in 2019.
